Exciting news! As far as we know here at the Jeff, at least five Siskiyou County artists’ works were accepted for exhibition in the West Coast Biennial: Juried Art Exhibition at Turtle Bay Museum in Redding, CA.
According to the organizers, only 45 artworks were selected from a pool of over 600 entries from West Coast artists currently living in California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. The aim of the exhibition is to provide a forum for both established and emerging artists working on the West Coast in a diversity of media including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture and mixed media.
The juror for the West Coast Biennial is Scott A. Shields, Chief Curator at the prestigious Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. Dr. Shields will be giving a talk at Turtle Bay in Redding on Tuesday, January 22 at 7pm. Cash awards will be announced during the opening reception for the exhibition at the annual Redding Cultural Cruise to be held on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 4 – 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend this reception and meet the Curator and the participating artists. The winner of the People’s Choice award will be notified after the close of the show on May 5, 2013.
The five artists are:
- Belinda Hanson, Dunsmuir (sculpture)
- Aleksander Balos, Mt. Shasta (painting)
- Heinz Danzberger, Mt. Shasta (photography)
- David Turner, Gazelle (sculpture)
- James Gilmore, Mt. Shasta (photography)
This exhibition will be on exhibition in the Art Gallery at Turtle Bay Museum in Redding, from January 25 – May 5, 2013.

Jim,
There is a sweet irony in having your artwork shown at Turtle Bay.
Thanks for bringing a smile to my day.
