Ed. Note: Illahe Gallery in Ashland, OR contacted us to spread the word about it’s upcoming Fourth Annual Artist Book exhibit – and a call for artists. Even if this isn’t your ‘official medium,’ we encourage State of Jefferson artists to consider submitting artists’ books - which are really any works of art realized in the form of a book. Artist books are often published in small editions, though sometimes they are produced as one-of-a-kind objects referred to as “uniques”.
From the Illahe Gallery:
“We are defining “artist books” as original works of art created as a book. Submissions can be one-of-a-kind books or works from small editions and may be based in any of the following mediums or combinations of mediums: poetry, prose, printmaking, painting, calligraphy, mixed media, photography, sculpture, textile, found objects, and letterpress printing. For this show, we will not be accepting blank books or journals. Submitted work must have been created within the past two years.”
Deadline is January 30. Here’s more info.
